One of the iconic wines of Italy. Brunello di Montalcino is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, the clone of Sangiovese indigenous to Montalcino in the west of Tuscany. The larger grape size (hence “grosso”) means a lower skin to pulp ratio. All of the tannin in a grape is in the skin, so these wines are less tannic than the traditional sangiovese wines of Tuscany, including Chianti. That doesn’t mean less power though. A beautiful balance of elegance and power, Brunello is famous the world over. The Castelli Martinozzi is awesome value for an iconic wine.
